University Research Co. LLC and its non-profit affiliate, the Center for Human Services, has worked for 42 years on improving the quality of and access to health, social and education services in the U.S. and developing countries. The Graphic Designer will work under general direction of URC’s Media Director and will provide graphics support using computer software. Most work will be produced in draft and final form in electronic files for transfer to disc. A representative sample of work products include design and lay out for brochures, journal articles, training materials, report and proposal covers, and posters. Specific tasks involve:
Designing art and copy layouts for material to be presented in many formats including via Public Service Announcements, computer monitor, CD-ROM, DVD, and other visual communications media
Plan presentations with program staff to include illustrations, photographs and text. Select styles and size of type and prepares samples
Prepares illustrations and rough sketches for revision and approval; develop style sheets, logotypes, and graphic standards for printed and published materials
Prepare notes and instructions for desktop publishing specialists or staff who prepare layouts for printing
Review final layout and suggest improvements as necessary
Minimum Qualifications
Position requires formal training at the AA level in graphic design or production, with two years experience preferably in a fast-paced publications production environment. Attention to detail and demonstrated experience using various commercial design and publications principles and techniques. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be flexible about changing work priorities. Excellent computer skills in Adobe Creative Suite are required. Work samples will be requested.
