Senior Technical Advisor - Private Health Sector Service

Job Description: 

URC is looking for a Senior Technical Advisor: Private Health Sector Service Delivery for a USAID-funded 5-year health project in Benin. S/He will provide technical assistance and oversight to support implementation of integrated health service delivery in the private health sector. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Job Responsibilities: 
  • Lead the development of private health sector integrated service delivery strategies, policies and operational frameworks
  • Provide guidance and expert advice on implementation of new or emerging integrated health service delivery initiatives/services
  • Apply cutting-edge quality improvement methods to translate best practices into improved prevention and management of reproductive, maternal, neonatal, and child health (RMNCH) services, including integrated service delivery in private healthcare facilities
  • Lead the development and assessment of key inputs (including infrastructure and staffing standards) essential to provide an integrated health service delivery at private facilities
  • Monitor the progress and pace of project implementation, ensuring that the technical aspects of the project are realized, meet high quality standards, and align with all internal controls
  • Participate in quality and timely reporting to USAID through monthly, quarterly and annual reports
Job Requirements: 
  • Advanced degree in international health, public health, or related field
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant technical experience in integrated health service delivery, health systems strengthening, RMNCH programs with a community component, and private sector engagement, particularly in West Africa
  • In-depth knowledge of the private health sector and public-private sector partnership for health
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing health programs in the private sector and the community in a developing country context
  • Demonstrated capacity to mobilize private sector stakeholders and to coach, mentor and develop staff’s technical capacity in the RMNCH area
  • Experience in quality improvement is strongly preferred
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with counterparts in other agencies and organizations
  • Prior experience on USAID-funded project is highly preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, including strong networking and diplomatic abilities (writing sample will be requested as part of application process)
  • Fluency in English and French
