USAID Awards URC the Jamaica Healthy Lifestyles Project

URC is pleased to announce the win of the new five-year “Jamaica Adolescent Healthy Lifestyles” contract from the U.S. Agency for International Development. The project—a behavior change initiative valued at $10.5 million—is designed to support the efforts of the Jamaica Ministry of Health to address challenges the nation’s youth faces in the areas of reproductive health, substance abuse, crime, and violence. The project will develop programs and activities to increase knowledge and improve attitudes and skills related to healthy lifestyles and to improve the policy environment and augment the availability and use of adolescent-friendly health and social services.

Led by URC, the project team comprised of Health Strategies International, Advocates for Youth, and the Population Media Center, and in partnership with the Government of Jamaica, will assist in mobilizing communities, families, schools, health workers, and NGOs to strengthen healthy behaviors among youth throughout the country. The URC team will provide technical assistance in the areas of healthy behavior promotion, self-esteem building, life-skills education, improvement of health services, and policy and advocacy.
