Para Todos DVD Featured at APHA Annual Meeting and Public Health Education and Health Promotion Newsletter

Para Todos CD-ROM

¡Vida en la Comunidad para Todos!/Life in the Community for Everyone! (“Para Todos”) is a bilingual  DVD/VHS product developed by URC in collaboration with Social & Health Services, Ltd. (SHS) for the Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Para Todos was created as a tool to help service providers working with Hispanic/Latino parents to address substance abuse prevention and mental health promotion in U.S. Hispanic/Latino communities.

Para Todos is a product of SAMHSA's Hispanic/Latino Initiative, a highly successful bilingual public education campaign in which URC developed a series of products to respond to the great need for culturally appropriate prevention materials in the Hispanic/Latino community.

Excerpts of the DVD were shown at the Annual Meeting of the American Public Health Association (APHA) in Washington, DC, Session #4196.0 on Tuesday, November 6th. The DVD was disseminated at no charge at the SAMHSA exhibition (Booth 403).

An article written by URC’s Emily Glazer and Margaret Behrns about the Para Todos DVD has been published in the Fall 2007 E-newsletter of the Public Health Education and Health Promotion (PHEHP) section of APHA.  The newsletter is sent to 7,000 PHEHP section members and is accessible from the APHA web site.

Ms. Glazer and Ms. Behrns presented a poster entitled, "Using technology to build capacity among Latino-serving community-based organizations," at the Annual Meeting of the Society for Public Health Education, in Alexandria, VA.

To view segments of Para Todos online and/or obtain the DVD, visit http://hablemos.samhsa.gov/paratodos/default.aspx. This product is free of charge and copyright restrictions and is easy and inexpensive to duplicate.  For more information, please contact Emily Glazer at emglazer@gmail.com or Margaret Behrns at Margaret_Behrns@cox.net.
