The Underage Drinking Prevention Education Initiatives Continues to Receive Recognition

The 2009 MarCom Awards program recognized the Underage Drinking Prevention Education Initiatives (UDPEI) team for three products:

  • The Community Briefing Prevention Toolkit: Town Hall Meetings won the Platinum Award in the marketing and promotional materials category. This award is presented to entries judged to be among the most outstanding in the competition in quality, creativity, and resourcefulness. The toolkit helps U.S. communities organize town hall meetings to raise community understanding of underage alcohol use and stimulate community prevention of this problem.
  • The Too Smart To Start Web site won a Gold Award in the Web Site Overall category. This award is presented to those entries judged to exceed the industry’s high standards. The site helps youth, families, educators, and communities prevent underage alcohol use and its related problems. Its resources include programs and strategies, materials, and interactive games and exercises.

The MarCom Awards, administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. The competition is one of the largest of its kind, with entries from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, public relations firms, and design shops.
