Role and Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to provide administrative and financial support to the IDG Division and its USAID-funded projects. This position reports to member of IDG management team and provides direct support to senior technical and management staff. 

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work with senior technical staff and management on research and writing assignments and editing and formatting documentation.
  • Contribute to proposal development, including background research, recruitment, and writing.
  • Contribute to meeting and events planning and execution, as assigned.
  • Provide backstopping support to overseas programs, as assigned. This may include:
    • Reviewing project expenditures against budgets and updating financial trackers.
    • Working with senior technical and management staff to ensure that program inputs are mobilized, including consultants and home office technical assistance, contracts, budgets, procurement and HR, to support the achievement of project deliverables;
    • Assisting in developing and ensuring quality of project deliverables to include reports, summaries and success stories. These deliverables may require writing, editing, proofreading, translating and/or coordinating translation services;
    • Serving as liaison between URC headquarters and the project field (overseas) office. Travel to project office as determined by senior program management staff to participate in project start-up or close-down or assist in the set-up and/or review of project management and financial tracking systems and processes or annual country program and country office review, or provide other program assistance as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Note: You must currently be eligible to work long-term in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, international development or related field PLUS two years of experience working on international donor funded projects in a programmatic and financial management capacity.  A Master's degree or credits may substitute for a year of relevant work experience.  International field experience (such as Peace Corps service or equivalent) is valued, while not required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to ask questions when needed to get clarification on project assignments. Strong research skills.
  • Strong financial skills, including experience reviewing expenditure vouchers and accompanying receipts, and strong budgeting skills, including experience with and aptitude for creating budget scenarios, projecting expenditures based on clear assumptions, and tracking actual expenditures against projections.
  • Experience with and an ability to follow United States federal contract procedures and regulations.
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks and work collaboratively with others.  Able to work independently in a fast-paced organization by prioritizing and managing multiple priorities. Strong attention to detail and follow-through required.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external clients.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed; prior experience working in developing countries preferred.
  • Language fluency in development language (French, Spanish, Arabic or Portuguese preferred).
  • Experience working in a federal contracting environment. Specifically, experience working with USAID- or CDC- funded programs in an organization focused on international development is desired.
  • Computer literacy is required. Advanced skills in Excel and MS Word a must. Ability in other programs such as Access, and Power Point applications is strongly desired.
