UNIVERSITY RESEARCH CO., LLC (URC) is a professional services firm dedicated to helping clients use scientific methods and research findings to improve program management, operations, and outcomes. For 40 years, URC has helped government and private sector clients design, operate, and evaluate programs that address health, social, and educational needs. With its non-profit affiliate, the Center for Human Services, URC works in the United States and abroad on projects that span the following core practice areas:
The Center for Human Services (CHS) and URC share the same capabilities, staff, and facilities, and all employees have appointments in both companies. URC thus provides the flexibility to work under either for-profit or non-profit contracting arrangements. In the education sector, for example, we are best known for our work under CHS, while most of our communications work is managed under URC.
In the U.S., URC is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the American people by addressing health and related social problems. We work with clients to promote changes in individual behavior and community environments using communications and social marketing strategies. Our national health education and promotion programs address such problems as obesity and substance abuse. As one of the nation’s premier providers of communications services, training, and technical assistance, we serve clients in Federal, state, and community agencies and collaborate with volunteer, civic, and professional organizations. URC also participates in national efforts to improve educational opportunities for disadvantaged groups.
Internationally, URC works with donor agencies, governments, and non-governmental institutions to strengthen the delivery and management of health and population services in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. We specialize in developing quality assurance systems to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and impact of service delivery. Through field-based projects and technical assistance, URC strives to help developing nations bring improved services to people in need.
