Sierra Leone
With a population of over 6 million, one of the most pressing priorities for the Sierra Leone government is to provide basic health services to its population.
In 1981, URC first became active in Sierra Leone with the launch of the Primary Health Care Operations Project (PREICOR), a multi-country research initiative to guide developing countries in strengthening their primary health care services. URC continued to improve the health of the population through TASC 4 Africa, another multi-country, USAID-funded project aimed at strengthening national health systems and addressing global issues and special concerns, such as HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases.
