Korea
Korea has been the site of one of URC’s earliest projects, the Primary Health Care Operations Research Project (PRICOR) I and II, a multi-country research project to guide developing countries in strengthening their primary health care services. URC’s non-profit affiliate, the Center for Human Services, implemented PRICOR and pioneered the development of a practical, systematic approach to operations research on critical issues facing primary health care services. The project investigated, in partnership with health care providers and their managers in developing countries, the use of community health workers, community mobilization, community financing of primary health services, and community-based commodity distribution. Upon PRICOR’s closure, this work continued with the Quality Assurance Project.
