Brazil
In Brazil, the Ministry of Health is focused on a continuum of health care-related issues. Brazil was the site of one of URC’s earliest, most far-reaching projects, the Primary Health Care Operations Research (PRICOR) Project, implemented from 1981–1991. Led by our non-profit affiliate, the Center for Human Services (CHS), PRICOR investigated, in partnership with health care providers and their managers, the use of community health workers, community mobilization, community financing of primary health services, and community-based commodity distribution.
