Global Reading Network Welcomes New Members at CIES
From March 6–10, 2016, the Global Reading Network—the community of practice supported by URC’s Reading within Reach (REACH) project—participated in the annual Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) conference in Vancouver, Canada. At the event, over 2,500 attendees from more than 100 countries attended 600+ sessions on prominent global education topics.
The Global Reading Network sponsored two successful, standing-room-only activities: a pre-conference workshop on Early Grade Reading Assessment and a series of sessions on the Global Book Fund.
REACH research papers were included in two additional sessions: Florida State University presented on the status of learning in the global education agenda and American University presented on their Landscape Report on primary grade literacy.
Conference participants also learned more about the Network's vision and participative opportunities at our booth, where visitors could view the Network’s new video. Overall, the event was very successful for the REACH project and increased Global Reading Network membership by over 15%.
