URC Appoints Maureen Shauket as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer
URC is pleased to announce the appointment of Maureen Shauket as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer.
“Maureen’s broad experience will enhance the operational functions of URC, further strengthening our ability to account for U.S. taxpayers’ funds and programmatic results,” said Suellen Estrin, URC Chairman and CEO. “We are keen to tap into her donor experience, excellent leadership skills, strategic thinking, and business acumen.”
Maureen comes to URC from USAID where she served as Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Policy, Planning and Learning (PPL). In that role, she oversaw PPL’s Policy Office, the Strategic and Program Planning Office, the Learning, Evaluation and Research Office, and the Program Office.
Prior to joining PPL, Maureen represented USAID as the Senior Development Advisor at the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) in Stuttgart, Germany. There she provided expertise on development, stabilization, and humanitarian assistance and helped shape the Department of Defense’s plan for Africa.
As a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Maureen achieved the rank of Career Minister. She carries the distinction of being the first woman at USAID to be designated Chief Acquisition Officer and Senior Procurement Officer, leading the Agency through a period of unprecedented growth in procurement obligations. In that role, she also served as USAID’s Suspension and Debarment Official.
Additionally, Maureen served as USAID Mission Director in Kosovo, Director of the Regional Contracting Office for USAID’s Regional Services Center in Hungary, covering the 11 Missions in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as other assignments at USAID’s Regional Center for Southern Africa, and in Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Maureen is the recipient of two Presidential Meritorious Awards, a Department of Defense Chairman’s Joint Meritorious Civilian Service Award, a Superior Accomplishment Award, USAID’s Award for Ethics, and the Mary A. Reynolds Award for Innovation in Acquisition and Assistance, among others.
“Maureen brings an exceptional perspective on development assistance, ethics, compliance, and procurement policies to ensure that we are responsible stewards of donor funding today and into the future,” said URC President Earl Gast. “We are thrilled to have her join URC.”
