Global Health Supply Chain – Technical Assistance (GHSC-TA)


URC served as a subcontractor to Chemonics on the GHSC-TA project and was a significant contributor on the Francophone and systems strengthening task orders.


Task Order – Francophone (TO-209)

The GHSC-TA Francophone task order worked to improve the ability of professionals and institutions in select Francophone countries to manage and maintain the integrity of supply chain systems. URC strengthened country management of health commodities, providing the full range of technical assistance needed to ensure the long-term availability of health commodities in public and private services worldwide. This task order served all health elements including HIV, family planning, malaria, maternal and child health, and tuberculosis.

The task order ensured timely access to quality essential health products and services by:

  • Improving policy, governance, strategy and coordination
  • Optimizing forecasting and procurement processes
  • Implementing best practices for distribution, warehousing, and logistics
  • Enhancing data visibility and stock monitoring

The following achievements were realized:

  • Supported the development of a Young Logistician Professionals Program (YLPP) through training and placement of 34 logisticians
  • Supported the improved implementation of the national strategic plan for the health product supply chain and the CAME’s Logistics and Economic Evaluation Report
  • Provisioned technical assistance to health facilities in inventory management, quantification, and supply planning, distribution, monitoring and evaluation, and data visibility
  • Developed standard operating procedures for improved governance at all levels of the supply chain
  • Developed more reliable management information systems and improved utilization of data for decision-making
