Gulu Sustainable Livelihoods Partnership Unites Local Partners to Break the Cycle of Malnutrition among PLHIV

File Type: PDF | File Size: 1.3 MB

In the Gulu district of Uganda, NuLife fostered a partnership between RECO Industries, Gulu Regional Referral Hospital (GRRH), The AIDS Support Organization (a Ugandan NGO), and the Diocese of Northern Uganda (DNU). Through the partnership, HIV-positive individuals treated at GRRH using a ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) developed by RECO are provided with land to grow ground nuts. RECO purchases the nuts and use them to make more RUTF, and the profits allow the formerly-malnourished clients to stay well nourished.
