Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI)

The Quality Assurance Project (QAP), in collaboration with the WHO Child and Adolescent Health Division and UNICEF for the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), developed a computer-based training (CBT) program based on the case management guidelines for IMCI. The CD-ROM teaches health workers about effective case management of sick children aged one week to five years. It was designed for health workers who manage sick children at first-level health facilities, which includes outpatient services of hospitals, health centers, health posts, dispensaries and clinics. The IMCI CBT was designed to be used in combination with traditional clinical IMCI training. If used in conjunction with the WHO IMCI course, the IMCI CBT is expected to be completed by the trainee in 5 or 6 days, versus 11 days allotted to the traditional WHO IMCI training.
