Retention in care of HIV-exposed Mother Baby Pairs in Kenya

With support from the American people and the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, Vipingo Health Centre in Kilifi County, Kenya, improved retention of mother-baby pairs from 14% to 57% between April and August 2013. Lutsangani Dispensary retained all seven mother-baby pairs identified through their prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV within the same period. This case study shares the simple steps that improvement teams in the two health facilities used to achieve these results in five months.
