Uganda is ranked 18th among the 22 high TB burden countries. 53% of Ugandan TB patients are HIV positive and TB is the leading cause of deaths among people living with HIV. USAID-funded Strengthening Uganda’s Systems for Treating AIDS Nationally (SUSTAIN) project supports 16 hospitals to deliver comprehensive HIV and TB care services.

This poster highlights project efforts to improve TB care, which resulted in significant improvements in TB treatment completion rates through facility-based interventions implemented using quality improvement approaches. SUSTAIN TB Advisor Kenneth Mutesasira presented the poster at the 2013 International AIDS Society Conference in Malaysia.
